SUMMER READING PROGRAMS
June 6th - July 27th

summer reading and Medieval castles Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds!!

Summer is almost here, and plans are underway for an amazing, fun filled Summer Reading Program designed for all ages, which begins June 6. Join us for sunny summer days full of castle building, medieval horses, storytellers, jugglers, art and science projects, theatre, and a Harry Potter party. Delve into books, join the adventures, and earn prizes such as coupons for TCBY, Burger King and QDoba. Then celebrate with us during the final summer reading party on July 27. Registration for reading clubs and programs is required and begins June 6.

  Monday June 6 9am-7:30pm Program Registration
*++ Wednesday June 8 1:00 pm "Create a Dragon" ... Help decorate the resident library dragon. Get your picture taken with the dragon, and eat dragon treats!
* Monday June 13 11:00 am "Dastardly Dragons" ... Pre-school storyhour for ages 3-5 years.   Enjoy stories, crafts, fingerplays, activities, and a snack.
 ++ Wednesday June 15 10:30 am "Harpbeat Concert" ... Upbeat, interactive, fun and often zany music.
* Monday June 20 1:00 pm "Jolly Jester Day" ... grades K & up; games, activities, snacks & crafts
 ++ Wednesday June 22 10:30 am "Two Worlds of the Dragonfly!" ... Storytelling, costumes, props & humor presented by Pete Stobie, Kalamazoo Nature Center.
* Monday June 27 11:00 am "Dragon Tales Bingo" ... K-1st grade
* Monday June 27 2:00 pm "Dragon Tales Bingo" ... 2nd grade & up

 ++ Wednesday July 6 1:00 pm "Juggling" ... Juggler Jim Merrils returns to entertain and teach juggling skills to all.
* Monday July 11 10-10:45 am "Celtic Bead Creations" ... 2nd grade; $3.00 per person; presented by Cindy Spiess-Malmstrom
* Monday July 11 11-11:45 am "Celtic Bead Creations" ... 3rd grade & up; $3.00 per person; presented by Cindy Spiess-Malmstrom

 ++ Wednesday July 20 11:00 am "South County Players" ... Two medieval plays by young local artists.
 ++ Wednesday July 27 1:00 pm "SUMMER READING PARTY!" ... Burch Memorial Park; for all reading club participants.

Game Day
... Chess anyone? Or maybe checkers or "Magic" the card game is your idea of fun. You don't know how to play? Not a problem. Someone will be there to teach you how. Bring a friend or two to join the fun.
June 16
Stained Glass
... Let your artistic juices flow. Help turn the library into a Medieval castle by turning one of our windows into a stained glass work of art.
June 30
Game Day
... Chess, checkers, magic ...
**July 7
Internet Scavenger Hunt
... Join the quest to find Medieval treasures while traversing the Internet. Bring a friend and work as a team.
**July 14
Potpourri Potion
... Become an acclaimed alchemist for the day, and conjure up a batch of potent potpourri!
July 21
Share the Magic
... Here is your opportunity to show off your talents... Practice your favorite magic trick or juggling act, then display your skill at this Medieval gathering of talents.
July 28
Joust Party
... Celebrate at a Medieval gathering with treats such as fruit tarts, custards and lemonade. Be wowed by an authentic sword fight, and enjoy the fun!

Friends of the Library
The "Friends of the Library" believe in the importance of the library and encourage the use of the facility. The purpose of "Friends" is to enhance library services by providing invaluable voluntary assistance and supplemental income through charitable donations and fundraisers.

The "Friends" meet on a regular basis at the library. If you believe in the importance of the library, consider joining us. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, September 16th at 10:00 am.
