WE'RE GOING TO A BASEBALL GAME!! Detroit Tigers vs. Cincinnati Reds, Sunday, May 21, 2006 ... The Schoolcraft Community Library is selling tickets to a Detroit Tigers Baseball game on May 21st at 1:05 P.M. and is sponsored by Michigan Public Libraries Fund Raising Event. A bus will leave from Albion at 10 A.M. that day and the tickets are $20 each. Tickets can be ordered at the library and checks should be made payable to Woodlands Library Cooperative. This is a fun day for families or softball teams looking for an outing and for every ticket sold $9.00 goes back to Michigan public libraries. So support your library and have a day at the ball park. TICKETS FOR TIM O'BRIEN'S public talk at Miller Auditorium on March 21, 2006 at 7 P.M. ... The Schoolcraft Community Library has available for FREE a limited number of tickets to author Tim O'Brien's public talk about his book The Things They Carried which will be held at Miller Auditorium at 7 P.M. on March 21, 2006. There are also Discount Admission Tickets to the Air Zoo Vietnam exhibits. There are also a limited number of these available and as with the tickets to Tim O'Brien's talk only 4 tickets or coupons may be given per person due to the high demand of these items. The tickets and coupons will be available beginning on February 16 during the library's normal business hours: 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.

SPRING PRESCHOOL STORYHOUR - "Pig Pizzazz and More - March 8 - April 12, 2006 - The Schoolcraft Community Library is hosting its annual Spring Preschool Storyhour for those children ages 3-5 years. The storyhour will run on consecutive Wednesdays from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. The theme will be 'Pigs' and other animals and there will be stories, activities, fingerplays, songs, crafts and snacks about each animal represented that week. Children must be pre-registered for this storyhour, so call the library at 679-5959. Space is limited, so call today and reserve a spot in "Pig Pizzazz and More".

Great Big, Huge, Colossal Thank You!! ... The Schoolcraft Community Library would like to thank all of our patrons who bought books at our recent sale and who donated books to the sale. Our book sale raised over $200 for the 2006 summer reading program. We will hold another used book sale in the spring.   ...   If you would like to donate books for the spring sale, you can drop them off at the library during business hours. Please, NO magazines, encyclopedias, Readers Digest books or School text books.

Friends of the Library
The "Friends of the Library" believe in the importance of the library and encourage the use of the facility. The purpose of "Friends" is to enhance library services by providing invaluable voluntary assistance and supplemental income through charitable donations and fundraisers.

The "Friends" meet on a regular basis at the library. If you believe in the importance of the library, consider joining us.

QSAC: Quality Service Audit Checklist
-SCHOOLCRAFT LIBRARY ATTAINS "ESSENTIAL LEVEL" OF QUALITY SERVICES FROM LIBRARY OF MICHIGAN - The Schoolcraft Community Library is proud to announce that it is one of 10 Class II libraries in Michigan who have qualified for the Essential Level requirements from the Quality Services audit checklist known as QSAC. There are seven categories of achievement which include human resources, governance/administration, services, collections development, technology, facilities and equipment and public relations/marketing. By focusing on these key areas the Schoolcraft Library has demonstrated a strong commitment to customer service. There are 78 class libraries in the State of Michigan and so the Schoolcraft Community Library is proud to have been one of the first 10 to have achieved this goal.

MICHIGAN READS 2006 - The Michigan Reads, One State, One Preschool Book program is once again up and running. One of the five listed titles below will be featured during March is Reading Month 2006. Come to the library and have your say about which book that is. You may cast your ballot for your favorite book by December 9th at the Schoolcraft Community Library. Come on in and ask to see all of the following titles and then vote for your favorite.   The book that is chosen statewide will be incorporated into our Spring Preschool storyhour as well. Hope to see you soon. Remember your vote must be cast by December 9th!
