NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK - April 3-8, 2006 ...
The Schoolcraft Community Library will be
celebrating National Library Week April 3rd thru April 8th. Come in and register to win a
bag of goodies that will be given away at the end of the week.
The bag includes coupons, book, video, and much more.
Also, as a thank you to
our patrons, we will be having a Patron Appreciation Day on Wednesday, April 5th
and offering Fine Free week to those of you that may have overdue books home on your
shelves right now. This would be an ideal time to return them to the library and
waive your fine. (This applies only to books that are currently overdue-not past
overdue fines.) So, come on in and register to win a prize, return those overdue
books and enjoy some refreshments as well. Hope to see you then. Any questions you

SPRING BOOK SALE AT THE SCHOOLCRAFT COMMUNITY LIBRARY April 19-22 ...
The Schoolcraft Community Library will be holding a book sale to raise funds for their Summer Reading Program.
The Book Sale will begin Wednesday, April 19 and run through Saturday, April 22 and will run during the
library's regular business hours. These hours are as follows:
Wednesday: 1-7:30 P.M.,
Thursday: 10 A.M.-5 P.M.,
Friday: 1-5 P.M. and
Saturday: 10 A.M.-1 P.M.
There will be children and adult books both fiction and non fiction and lots of videos!!
Books will be 25 cents each and videos will be $1.00 each and there will be a special table of
hardcover books that are in mint condition that will be separately priced. On Saturday we will have books for
$1.00 a bag and videos at a reduced price. So, put these dates on your calendar and
come join us and support summer reading at the same time.
BARNES AND NOBLE BOOK FAIR - May 6-13, 2006
... The Schoolcraft Friends of the Library
will be hosting another Barnes and Noble book fair from Saturday, May 6th thru Saturday,
May 13th, 2006 in support of the Schoolcraft Community Library's summer reading program.
Any books, CD's, movies, gift items etc. purchased during this week ALONG WITH the presentation
of one of our Vouchers
to the sales clerk at the time of purchase, will be added into the
total dollars purchased by voucher holders.
Schoolcraft Community Library will
receive a percentage of the sales back. These monies will be used to fund the library's
summer reading program "Hang Out and Read" - a rainforest theme.
Vouchers
are available at the Schoolcraft Community Library or can be downloaded directly.
So, if you are thinking of purchasing books for Mother's Day,
Father's Day, graduations, birthdays, anniversaries etc., come get a
voucher or two and
plan to make your purchases the week of May 6-13 and help the library with their summer

Remember, presenting one of our
vouchers helps out the library!!

WE'RE GOING TO A BASEBALL GAME!! Detroit Tigers vs. Cincinnati Reds, Sunday, May 21, 2006
... The Schoolcraft Community Library is selling tickets to a Detroit Tigers Baseball game on May 21st at 1:05 P.M.
and is sponsored by Michigan Public Libraries Fund Raising Event.
A bus will leave from Albion at 10 A.M. that day and the tickets are $20 each.
Tickets can be ordered at the library and checks should be made payable to Woodlands Library Cooperative.
This is a fun day for families or softball teams looking for an outing and for every ticket sold $9.00 goes
back to Michigan public libraries. So support your library and have a day at the ball park.

SPRING PRESCHOOL STORYHOUR - "Pig Pizzazz and More - March 8 - April 12, 2006 -
The Schoolcraft Community Library is hosting its annual Spring
Preschool Storyhour for those children ages 3-5 years. The storyhour
will run on consecutive Wednesdays from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. The theme
will be 'Pigs' and other animals and there will be stories, activities,
fingerplays, songs, crafts and snacks about each animal represented that week.
Children must be pre-registered for this storyhour, so call the library at 679-5959.
Space is limited, so call today and reserve a spot in "Pig Pizzazz and More".

BOOK SALE---BOOK SALE--- BOOK SALE!!!!!
Great Big, Huge, Colossal Thank You!! ... The Schoolcraft Community Library would like to thank
all of our patrons who bought books at our recent sale and who donated books to the sale.
Our book sale raised over $200 for the 2006 summer reading program. We will hold another used book
sale in the spring.
... If you would like to donate books for the spring sale, you can drop them off at the library during
business hours. Please, NO magazines, encyclopedias, Readers Digest books or School text books.

Friends of the Library
The "Friends of the
Library" believe in the importance of the library and encourage the use of the
facility. The purpose of "Friends" is to enhance library services by
providing invaluable voluntary assistance and supplemental income through
charitable donations and fundraisers.
The "Friends" meet on a regular basis at the
library. If you believe in the importance of the library, consider
joining us.
QSAC: Quality Service Audit Checklist
-SCHOOLCRAFT LIBRARY ATTAINS "ESSENTIAL LEVEL" OF QUALITY SERVICES FROM LIBRARY OF MICHIGAN
- The Schoolcraft Community Library is proud to announce that it is one
of 10 Class II libraries in Michigan who have qualified for
the Essential Level requirements from the Quality Services audit
checklist known as QSAC. There are seven categories of achievement which
include human resources, governance/administration, services, collections
development, technology, facilities and equipment and public relations/marketing.
By focusing on these key areas the Schoolcraft Library has demonstrated a strong
commitment to customer service. There are 78 class libraries in the State of
Michigan and so the Schoolcraft Community Library is proud to have been one of
the first 10 to have achieved this goal.

MICHIGAN READS 2006
- The Michigan Reads, One State, One Preschool Book program is once
again up and running. One of the five listed titles below will be featured during March
is Reading Month 2006.
The book that is chosen statewide will be incorporated into our Spring Preschool
storyhour as well. Hope to see you soon.

Brown Bag Story Hour ... The Schoolcraft Community Library's monthly
Brown Bag Storyhour for students in Young Fives and Kindergarten will be held
Wednesday, March 15th from 11:10 to 11:50 A.M. Registration is not
required and this month's theme is Barnyard Animals!!!
So, come join the fun and bring a lunch, a smile and good listening ears.

TICKETS FOR TIM O'BRIEN'S public talk at Miller Auditorium on March 21, 2006 at 7 P.M.
... The Schoolcraft Community Library has available for FREE a limited number of tickets
to author Tim O'Brien's public talk about his book The Things They Carried which
will be held at Miller Auditorium at 7 P.M. on March 21, 2006. There are also Discount Admission Tickets
to the Air Zoo Vietnam exhibits. There are also a limited number of these available and as with the
tickets to Tim O'Brien's talk only 4 tickets or coupons may be given per person
due to the high demand of these items. The tickets and coupons will be available beginning on
February 16 during the library's normal business hours: 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.
